Day of Caring
Welcome to the Day of Caring
Volunteers

Volunteer Philosophy

Established in 1991, Day of Caring is a grass roots organization made up of volunteers committed to increasing personal awareness and involvement toward confronting the ever-increasing national plight of hunger and homelessness.

The first brunch in 1991 involved 12 sites, 250 dedicated volunteers and served approximately 3,000 meals.  The Montgomery County Hunger and Housing Coalitions received $8,000.  We have since grown to be twenty-six sites in 2003 with 1,000 dedicated volunteers and we distributed over $25,500 to help the homeless and the hungry in the local communities.  Over the past 13 years we have received approximately $1 million of in-kind donations from area corporations and individuals.

There are three goals for the Day of Caring emphasis in our community:

Raise money for the emergency shelter system and the hunger  coalition member agencies

Raise public consciousness about the needs of the hungry and the homeless

Encourage volunteerism through continuous education and involvement

How to get involved:
Day of Caring is more than just a one-day fundraising event.  Although this is important in itself, Day of Caring is, first and foremost, designed to elevate personal awareness and create a framework where individuals can participate and see the difference they make.

We are constantly seeking mew volunteers from business, education, religion, the arts, and the community at large who will share our goals, vision, commitment, and dedication. If you are interested in helping, please fill out our our downloadable form ac.gif and get involved TODAY !
